Meeting of the Regional Working Group on Glacier Monitoring and Modeling in Central Asia, March 11, 2025, in Tashkent
On March 11, 2025, a meeting of the Regional Working Group on Glacier Monitoring and Modeling in Central Asia was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where the co-director of the Central Asian Institute for Applied Gesciences (CAIAG) Moldobekov Bolot Duishenalievich participated in the event. The purpose of the meeting was to coordinate joint actions on glacier monitoring in the region.
The participants discussed the results achieved, and developed a Roadmap for 2025-2026 on monitoring of glaciers and outburst glacial lakes, as well as identified mechanisms of interaction between the participating countries taking into account modern technologies and international cooperation.
The meeting was an important step forward in implementing the “Green Central Asia” program and supporting the UN General Assembly Resolution, strengthening the partnership of the region's countries in addressing climate challenges and sustainable management of glacier resources.
