Announcement of a competition to fill the vacant position:
Head of Department 4
“Capacity Development and Scientific Cooperation”
Duties:
- Organising and managing of the department, including responsibility for staff;
- Developing and implementing strategies to attract independent sources of funding for the Institute;
- Establishing and developing relationships with embassies, ministries, universities and scientific organisations at national and international level;
- Participating in national and international bodies;
- Planning and organising information sessions and workshops on external funding;
- Advising and assisting researchers in submitting project proposals for funding and in establishing international collaborations. Assisting researchers in placing scientific publications in relevant foreign journals;
- Planning and organising of advanced training courses and scientific conferences for specialists from Central Asian countries in the field of applied geosciences;
- Organising international exchange programs for scientists;
- Development of the concept and implementation of education and training of the population, state employees and local self-government bodies in the sphere of prevention of the consequences of man-made, natural and ecological disasters;
- Organising reporting to sponsors and regulatory bodies.
Qualification requirements:
- Higher education in international relations, earth sciences or natural sciences. Several years of leadership experience in a thematic working group or department, preferably with an advanced scientific degree in the above fields;
- Experience in scientific management, preferably in international relations;
- Experience in personnel management;
- Experience in conducting training and study activities;
- Knowledge of the higher education training system by involving students, trainees and applicants in the research process;
- Fluency in written and spoken English; additional knowledge of German is encouraged;
- Strong collaborative skills to ensure successful interaction with the administrative and scientific structures of our Institute;
- the ability to work in a team, combined with a high degree of self-organisation and initiative.
Starting Date: as soon as possible
Duration of the contract: 3 years with the possibility of renewal
Salary: according to the CAIAG salary scale
