German Delegation Visited CAIAG

   On May 16, 2025, the Central Asian Institute for Applied Geosciences (CAIAG) hosted a distinguished delegation from Germany, consisting of senior officials and leading experts from key research institutions and federal agencies.

The delegation was led by Mr. Florian Frank, Head of Department at the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space. The visit was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen scientific cooperation between Germany and Kyrgyzstan in such priority areas as climate change, water resources, agriculture, geosciences and sustainable development.

The delegation included representatives from:

  • Centre for East European and International Studies (ZOiS)
  • Reiner Lemoine Institute
  • Julius Kühn Institute (JKI) – Institute for Breeding Research on Fruit Crops
  • GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences

During the visit, participants discussed opportunities for joint projects, scientific data exchange, as well as possibilities for academic exchange and training of young researchers. CAIAG presented its main areas of work, including research in hydrology, geo-risks, climate change, and geoinformation technologies.

The visit became an important milestone in the development of CAIAG’s international cooperation and reaffirmed the strong interest of the German scientific community in Central Asia as a key platform for applied research and sustainable development.
