A series of workshops and seminars were held in Bishkek and Osh as part of the WE-ACT project "Water Efficient Allocation in a Central Asian Transboundary River Basin"
CAIAG, IWMI, and the Technical University of Munich (TUM), in collaboration with WE-ACT project partners, organized a series of workshops and seminars from November 12 to 15, 2025.
The events were attended by experts from Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, and Central Asian countries. Participants discussed modern methods of water resource monitoring, integrated modeling (SWAT+, WEAP), water value assessment, and the development of a Decision Support System (DSS).
These events were attended by specialists from the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Kyrgyz Republic, the water services, the Kara Darya – Syr Darya – Amu Darya Basin Water Resources Management Authority, the Naryn – Kara Darya – Syr Darya Basin Irrigation Systems Administration, the Naryn – Syr Darya Basin Irrigation Systems Administration, the Syr Darya -Sokh Basin Irrigation Systems Administration, the Syr Darya Basin Water Management Association, International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Kyrgyzhydromet, academic institutions, and research centers. During the seminars and workshops, participants learned about the possibilities of automated data collection for hydrological observations, operation, and maintenance, the SWAT+ model for forecasting, and gained knowledge about the miraX DSS Decision Support System. At the end of the training, participants received certificates.
