Dr. Bolot Moldobekov, Codirector of the Central Asian Institute for Applied Geosciences, participated in a live broadcast of Azattyk Radio.
On July 2, 2024, a live broadcast was held in the studio of Azattyk Radio with the participation of Dr. Bolot Moldobekov, Codirector of the Central Asian Institute for Applied Geosciences, Anara Sultangazieva, Chairman of the Public Foundation “Green Energy”, and Akylbek Mazaripov, Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic (online).
During the conversation various issues related to climate change, glacier melting in the Kyrgyz Republic and Central Asia were discussed. Dr. Usubaliev shared the experience that CAIAG has been conducting for the last 20 years: in particular, he noted the creation and publication of catalogs on glaciers, emphasized the issue of lack of personnel in the field of glaciology, the laboriousness and cost of both large financial and human resources to carry out any activities to study glaciers, the reduction and melting of glaciers.
Dr. Usubaliev explained the situation with glacier melting is not only climate change; the real problem is global and faces all mankind, which accelerates this process in every possible way.
