H.U. Wetzel stood at the origins of the foundation and development of CAIAG. Thanks to him, the high-altitude alpine observatory named after G.

Merzbacher was established. He made a tremendous contribution to the development of our Institute.

We are very sad about such a huge loss that the scientific world has suffered.

He was our colleague, mentor and a very good friend!
