Co-Director Bolot Moldobekov spoke on radio and television about the research conducted by CAIAG into the consequences of global climate change

On September 24, 2026, Co-Director of the Central Asian Institute for Applied Geosciences Bolot Moldobekov took part in the program “President Sadyr Japarov: ‘Ysyk‑Kol is our common climate amanat (trust)” aired on Birinchi Radio and Ala‑Too 24.

Bolot Duyshonalievich supported the initiative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic to draw the attention of the global community to environmental problems caused by global climate change, and in particular, to unite efforts to preserve Lake Ysyk‑Kol.

The director of the CAIAG spoke about the institute’s work on monitoring the water level in Lake Ysyk‑Kol, studying the causes, and predicting the consequences for agriculture.

Bolot Moldobekov also spoke about the tools and methods for measuring water resources and answered the audience’s questions about ways to prevent the reduction of glacier areas.

Radio listeners and television viewers also learned about the cooperation between researchers at the Central Asian Institute for Applied Geosciences and their foreign colleagues to exchange experience in solving similar problems, as well as about the interaction with the Ministry of Emergency Situations based on the results of research and the installation of early warning systems for the population — for example, regarding the risk of mudflows or the bursting of high‑altitude lakes.

Bolot Duyshonalievich called for taking advantage of the opportunity to host the Second Global Mountain Summit “Bishkek+25” in Kyrgyzstan in order to strengthen ties with international organizations and implement effective measures to develop mountain regions, preserve water, land, and forest resources, and combat drought and glacier pollution.
