CAIAG Participates in Discussion on the Application of the Territorial Development Indicator
On July 1, 2026, Head of the Geodynamics and Georisks Department Ulan Abdybachaev and Head of the Potential Development and Scientific Cooperation Department Nazgul Alybaeva participated in a discussion on the "Methodology of the Territorial Vulnerability Index as a Navigator for Regional Development and Reducing Spatial Inequality in the Kyrgyz Republic".
Representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, universities, and researchers expressed their opinions on reports on international practices for applying indices to the development of vulnerable territories, the vulnerability index for high-mountain and remote areas, the application of the index in public policy, and financing planning.
To ensure timely and effective solutions to the problems of high-mountain and hard-to-get areas in the Kyrgyz Republic, a model of social support for residents is combined with mechanisms for realizing economic potential, such as vantages for investors, tourism development, preferential lending for agriculture, and improved transport communications.
Central Asian Institute for Applied Geosciences conducts research on climate change and environmental conditions in mountainous regions to identify threats, provide early warning of hazards, and protect natural resources.
