Central-Asian Institute for Applied Geosciences

CAIAG is a multidisciplinary institute comprising most of the geoscientific discip­lines like geology, glaciology, hydrology, limnology, climatology, geophysics, geodesy and remote sensing.

CAIAG operates dedicated monitoring networks for seismology and geodesy, a network of hydro-meteorological monitoring stations and high mountain glacier observatories.

Geodata and observational data are managed in a Geodata Information System including a Geodatabase and respective Web interfaces for easy and open access.

CAIAG has a team of scientists to organize training courses, to prepare educa­tional material and to establish knowledge transfer to the society and stake hold­ers.

The unique collection of the library comprises more than 60,000 copies of publications of books, dictionaries, reference books, encyclopedias, periodicals, multimedia materials, works and monographs in Russian, Kyrgyz, English, German, Spanish, French and many other languages​​, which was established on the basis of the Central Geological Institute of East Germany (GDR), the State Agency for mining issues, geology and resources of the Land Brandenburg and the German geological Society.
